The two workshops housed within Crocker Nuclear Laboratory on the UC Davis campus were founded in the 1960s during construction of the facility and its 76-inch isochronous cyclotron. Over the years as work at the laboratory expanded into a diversity of fields, the shops expanded along with it.
Charged with the complex task of maintenance and repair of the cyclotron as well as designing and building equipment for a diverse array of research and technical programs conducted at CNL, the shops are staffed by some of the most skilled operators in the Sacramento region and are appointed with a complete and sophisticated selection of tools, instruments and software.
The two shops welcome design and fabrication orders from public and private entities both on and off the UC Davis campus.
